Theology and Theologizing in the Pauline Literature

Category: New Testament
Research Group Co-ordinator: Reimund Bieringer

Chairs

Dominika Kurek-Chomycz (Dominika.Kurek@theo.kuleuven.be)

For three consecutive years sessions of the seminar devoted to The Theology of 2 Corinthians" were held at subsequent EABS meetings, covering the entire Second Letter to the Corinthians. This is now extended to the whole Pauline literature.
For 2009 two sessions of the seminar are planned:
One will focus on how Biblical traditions and themes function in shaping theological insights in the Pauline writings, both in the broader context of different epistles, and in specific letters and passages. Papers devoted to the homologoumena as well as the antilegomena are invited, including contributions which discuss the possible differences in this respect between these groups of writings. Not only New Testament specialists, but also Hebrew Bible scholars are encouraged to contribute their insights.
A second session is intended to provide a more open forum for discussion of theology and theologising in the Pauline literature. Both traditional and more recent methodological approaches are welcome in both sessions.

Call for Papers:

Papers are invited for both sessions. Please send an abstract (200-250 words) to Dominika.Kurek@theo.kuleuven.be by 26 February 2009.
