THE BIBLICAL STUDIES POSTGRADUATE NETWORK

Recognising the unique challenges of postgraduate students worldwide, the European Association of Biblical Studies Postgraduate Network has been established to meet the needs of this community. The primary objective is to provide opportunities for professional development, the exchange of research ideas, practical advice and peer support. The network will be accessible to graduate students registered with academic institutions within the broad field of Biblical Studies, particularly but not exclusively in Europe. Our Aims are to: - Provide an environment where ideas can be discussed, research and resources shared, and conference details exchanged - Provide and share resources useful for the future careers of the members - Develop a network enabling the development of collaborative projects - Provide graduate students with a supportive environment for discussing differences in education practices, funding, supervision styles and other practical aspects of being a graduate student

To informally join the network (on Faceboook), go here. It is open to all emerging scholars, whether or not they are members of EABS.
If you can, please help to publicize the Network by printing out this poster and displaying it at your institution.

STUDENT PRIZE 2010

The EABS is happy to announce the Student prize for 2010.

There will be two student awards, €200 each.

The prize competition is open to student members of the EABS (including members who graduate during 2010) who plan to present papers at the EABS/SBL conference in Tartu. The competition is also open to EABS student members who present in SBL sessions.

Students who want to be considered for the prize are asked to submit their papers by June 1st to prof. Rainer Albertz (albertz@uni-muenster.de, for Hebrew Bible/Old Testament) or to Dr. Outi Lehtipuu (olehtipu@mappi.helsinki.fi, for New Testament/Early Judaism and Christianity), along with information about the session in which the paper will be presented.

The submissions will be evaluated on their research content, also taking into account some presentation skills (i.e. whether the research content can be sensibly presented within the allocated time slot)

The prize will involve free attendance and free accommodation at the meeting.

Note: For students who are interested in taking part in the competition but are not yet EABS members, is possible to register as an EABS member before you submit your proposal.

For more information about the prize, please contact the EABS president, Jorunn Økland (jorunn.okland@stk.uio.no) .
